With 5 sites across Australia and a workforce of approximately 300 staff, Simon George & Sons are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join them as a Human Resources Officer. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic blue-collar environment and has a passion for administrative excellence.
About The Role

The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for managing the employment process, from recruitment to onboarding, training, and performance management. They will be responsible for ensuring legal compliance, maintaining employee records, and overseeing employee welfare. The Human Resources Officer will play a key role in developing and implementing HR initiatives, training, and development programs, along with providing advice on employee claims and grievances.
Key Accountabilities
  • Provide an internal HR consultancy to Management and staff, ensuring day to day needs are met for a broad range of HR services and advice.
  • Processing weekly payroll and assisting General Managers and staff with complex payroll enquiries.
  • HR Compliance & Administration, managing employment contracts, position descriptions, policies, employee files and other HR documentation.
  • Providing general advice on employee claims and grievances in an effective manner in line with legislation.
  • Management of the employee onboarding function including induction programs.
  • Development and delivery of performance reviews, assisting General Managers with the process and feedback.
  • Management of any Workcover claims and return to work programs.
  • Management of the group Employee Assistance Program.
  • Coordination of WHS efforts in conjunction with external consultant.
  • Occasional travel to sites (once per year).
Qualifications & Skills
  • Relevant qualification in HR or related field desirable.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
  • Accurate Data Management and Entry
  • Effective communication skills, comfortable engaging with employees within a blue-collar environment and building long-lasting stakeholder relationships.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and eager to develop and learn.
