Destination Gold Coast is a not-for-profit destination marketing organisation that promotes the Gold Coast on behalf of more than 500 members and 26,000 businesses. Employing a data-driven approach to formulate high impact strategies for Gold Coast tourism they consult closely with multiple stakeholders including local industry, government, tourism bodies, national and international trade as well as various industry partners. About the role
This key leadership role is centred around building a future focused strategy that places the Gold Coast as a world leading destination in the post pandemic travel/destination market. The last 20 months have been challenging but has now provided a platform to refocus to build an organisation that is agile and responsive and provides value to its stakeholders. This role will work closely with the whole organisation to build a destination wide vision involving both long term opportunities and business planning within Destination Gold Coast. The position is accountable for the operational running of the business with a portfolio that spans people and culture, finance, governance and risk and information technology. Serving as the organisation’s Company Secretary, the incumbent will bring their skills in developing an effective governance and risk management framework that also supports effective Board processes.
  
The Head of Business Capability is responsible for providing critical support, strategic direction, people leadership and specialist financial advice for DGC’s business units and contributes to the long-term business direction of DGC. There will be a need to identify budget challenges early, and communicate them clearly. Managing a small team, a key focus of the role will be providing operational support while driving change relating to the evolution of people and culture& finance, and enabling the adoption of new ways of working to deliver an agile, proactive, and responsive organisation.
Transforming DGC’s IT systems into a modern fit for purpose tech stack to improve processes, value for customers and innovation in a small customer led business is a priority project.

About you
With a relevant tertiary or post graduate qualification, you will have experience in a senior management position demonstrating effective organisational change management and stakeholder management. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to lead cultural transformation within a customer focused environment, including previous oversight of a people and culture & finance function. With strong knowledge of corporate governance principles and legislation relating to risk management, contract management, human resources and information technology, you will have substantial understanding and experience in developing, leading, planning and managing a business services portfolio, and an ability to think cross-functionally.
In addition, you will have experience working with or reporting to a Board, including sound knowledge of developing effective governance and risk frameworks that raise board standards. As a proven leader and builder of collaborative teams you will role model the organisation’s cultural attributes, and ideally have an understanding of tourism industry operations and contemporary knowledge of emerging trends and priorities in the industry.
