About the role:

As the Employee Relations Business Partner, you will play a critical role in managing positive employee relations outcomes on behalf of the organisation. The position will provide support and advice around the interpretation of the current EBA’s, ensuring risk mitigation of complex employee relations and industrial situations, enabling the business to make informed decisions, now and for the future.

Forming part of the wider people, culture, and safety division, you will work in collaboration with the team to set and deliver on the ER/IR strategy. With a clear plan in place, you will focus on managing the operational BAU as well as support the growth plans for the wider business. This will include ‘thinking bigger’ then your individual contribution and will see you always striving to enhance policies and procedures in service of better outcomes for the organisation and its people.

Key Responsibilities:
  • ER Within Unionised Environments: Leverage your prior experience working within heavily unionised environments to navigate complex labour relations issues effectively. Collaborate with union representatives to build productive relationships and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Enterprise Bargaining & Industrial Relations: Bring your extensive knowledge of Australian Enterprise Bargaining and Industrial Agreements. Lead negotiations (where applicable), draft agreements, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Recognise the importance of traveling to key stakeholder sites when required. Establish strong working relationships with stakeholders across multiple locations, ensuring alignment with the organisations employee relations strategies.
  • Strategic Thinking: Embrace the bigger picture and demonstrate critical thinking skills in developing and executing employee relations strategies that align with our organisational goals and values.
  • Integration with Systems: Collaborate with our IT and HR teams to ensure seamless integration of employee relations processes and data into our systems. 
  • Team Interaction: Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the P&C function. Encourage open communication and knowledge sharing to optimise the collective expertise of the team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement methodologies within the employee relations function. Identify opportunities for process enhancements, efficiency gains, and best practice adoption.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to HR and senior management on complex employee relations matters. Provide guidance and expertise on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Policy Development: Collaborate with HR and legal teams to develop and update employment policies and procedures to align with changing legislation and industry best practices.
  • Dispute Resolution: Lead and facilitate the resolution of workplace disputes, grievances, and claims, striving for fair and equitable outcomes.
  • Compliance: Ensure the organisation's compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations, staying up to date with changes in legislation.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in Employee Relations with a strong focus on Australian Enterprise Bargaining and Industrial Agreements.
  • Prior experience working within heavily unionised environments is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian employment law and regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage and provide advice on complex employee relations issues and disputes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships across all levels.
