Troocoo are working with Queensland Government on a new position within a high-profile department, we are currently recruiting an AO7 Principal Policy Officer to join a new HR project team on a fixed term initial 6-month direct contract. As the Principal Policy Officer you play a key role in ensuring that the recommendations included in the Best Practice Review are supported with strategic policy aligned to government policies, priorities, legislation, and public interest. You will report to the Program Manager, Culture Change and contribute to a range of deliverables throughout the program including discussion papers, briefing notes, ministerial briefs, and various communication materials.

Some of the Key responsibilities in this role include;
  • Developing responsive, innovative, evidenced-based, practical policy and programs that deliver desired outcomes.
  • Liaising with other agencies or organisations as required on a range of policy issues to ensure the change outcomes are achieved and standards are maintained.
  • Providing briefings and high-level policy advice to key stakeholders including the Minister, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Program Manager, and others.
  • Preparing critical correspondence, submissions, or briefing notes to support the change initiatives.
  • Demonstrating an ability to influence key stakeholders, groups or individuals while maintaining productive relationships.
To be considered for this opportunity you will have demonstrated experience in a senior policy role high within a large and complex organisation/Government department and have worked on HR projects. This role requires demonstrated expertise in public policy processes as well as experience in policy analysis and development. You will have proven ability to make good decisions that can be publicly upheld, based on analysis of available information, and the application of sound judgement to manage risk.  To be successful in this role you have proven experience in managing complex and sensitive consultations and negotiations with diverse stakeholders, given varying expectations, viewpoints, and interests.
