About the Role:
  
The General Manager, Health Services is responsible for leading the delivery of frontline health services across Queensland, including pre-hospital care, first aid at local and regional events, and ophthalmic services, primarily provided by a dedicated volunteer workforce.
  
A key focus of the role is advancing health equity, ensuring all Queensland communities have access to essential health and first aid services, including through initiatives such as the St John Eye Van.
  
In addition, the General Manager will lead the growth of the St John youth program within Health Services hubs, creating a safe and welcoming environment where young people can develop as trusted partners in times of need and future leaders in humanitarian, health, and first aid services.
  
Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, this role contributes to the broader organisational strategy while building community capacity, resilience, and wellbeing in line with St John Ambulance Queensland’s mission, “With you in times of need.”

The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, people-focused environment and possesses exceptional emotional intelligence, enabling them to motivate, develop, and empower teams to deliver their very best. They are a strategic thinker with a strong ability to translate vision into action, driving both operational excellence and sustainable outcomes.
  
While not mandatory, tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in a health-related field would be highly regarded, as would AHPRA registration as a nurse, paramedic, or equivalent with significant clinical operational leadership experience.
