Test Manager - HCM / Payroll (Workday & Aurion)

Job description

I am partnering with a Local Government organisation based in Ipswich who are delivering a major HCM and Payroll transformation as part of a broader corporate program. They are seeking an experienced Test Manager to lead the testing workstream for a Workday HCM and Aurion Payroll implementation.

This role will suit someone with hands-on experience in complex payroll environments who can manage end-to-end testing, work closely with stakeholders, and ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.

The role is offered as a 12-month contract, with a hybrid working arrangement based in Ipswich.

Your Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead testing activities across the HCM and Payroll migration, working closely with the Test Lead, SMEs, vendors, and implementation partners.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and maintaining the Test Strategy and Test Plan
  • Creating and reviewing test scenarios and scripts across Workday, Aurion, integrations, and payroll rules
  • Managing SIT, end-to-end, regression, UAT, and parallel payroll testing
  • Leading daily defect triage and managing the defect lifecycle
  • Maintaining requirements traceability and test governance
  • Producing testing dashboards, progress updates, and closure reports
  • Supporting cutover and dress rehearsal testing activities
  • Providing testing and defect management advice where required
What You’ll Bring:
  • Extensive, proven experience testing Workday HCM and Aurion Payroll
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Strong understanding of Workday HCM functional areas and integrations
  • In-depth payroll knowledge, including Australian and Queensland EBAs, awards, penalties, and statutory requirements
  • Strong experience in test planning, execution, and defect management
  • Ability to produce clear, executive-level testing reports
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end testing on HCM/Payroll programs
Desirable:
  • Experience in local government payroll environments
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Business, HR, or a related field
  • Agile/Scrum and/or ISTQB certification
