About the Role

Our Client, a leading and reputable National Financial Services Organisation, is currently seeking to identify a highly skilled Technology Risk Manager to join their team in Brisbane CBD.

This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work in an evolving and dynamic environment, ensuring effective risk management across technology operations to support business objectives and safeguard critical information.

As the Technology Risk Manager, you’ll be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating technology-related risks, while also ensuring compliance with relevant frameworks, policies, and standards.

Your expertise will contribute to a culture of proactive risk awareness and help shape robust security measures across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage technology risk frameworks and processes to enhance organisational risk posture.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, identify potential vulnerabilities, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure risk management practices align with the overall business strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead initiatives to improve cybersecurity awareness and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Report on risk status, trends, and regulatory requirements to senior leadership, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders for assessments and to ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks.
  • Provide technical consultation and direction to teams in Technology and Operations (T&O) and the broader Suncorp business teams with a view to assist with business thinking and definition of risk solutions.
  • Work with key business stakeholders to deliver expert guidance on Technology risk and resilience best practices, governance and effective controls.
  • Review and challenge the output from Risk Frameworks and Standards providing visibility of policy compliance, risk appetite statement compliance, implementation status and health.
  • Implement and use relevant risk tools providing subject matter expertise to stakeholders and presenting health and improvement ideas back to owners.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in technology risk management within the Financial Services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership abilities and a collaborative approach to managing risk in a team setting.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CRISC, CISM, CISSP) are highly desirable.
