We are working with a Queensland Government department helping them recruit an experienced System Administrator (Vulnerability Specialist) to play a critical role in a vulnerability remediation and enhancement project.

This role focuses on patching, upgrading, and securing IT infrastructure across diverse platforms. You’ll help drive cyber resilience by implementing security controls, remediating vulnerabilities, and supporting the rollout of automated patching strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Remediate cyber security vulnerabilities through patching, upgrades, and configuration changes
• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of vulnerability remediation – planning, change control, testing, and deployment
• Develop and implement automated patching strategies aligned with the ACSC Essential 8
• Configure and deploy patching across servers, workstations, and IoT devices
• Use Group Policy, Intune, and scripting solutions to remediate configuration vulnerabilities
• Contribute to strengthening cyber resilience across large-scale government infrastructure

About You

• 5+ years’ experience in IT Operations, Systems Administration, or related technical roles
• Strong experience across Windows Servers, Active Directory, SQL clusters, VMware, Commvault, mobile devices, and IoT
• Skilled in vulnerability remediation within enterprise or government environments
• Hands-on experience with Intune, Azure Update Manager, and server monitoring systems
• Familiarity with Linux environments (desirable)
• Understanding of ITIL or IT Service Management frameworks
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver under pressure
