About the Role.
The Senior Tax Accountant will work with the Senior Tax Manager (STM) to support the business in project and investment related advisory. The Senior Tax Accountant is also responsible for overseeing the timely management of day-to-day compliance for the Funds group of entities.
This role would suit an applicant with a drive to improve existing processes and procedures, as well as someone who enjoys fostering positive relationships with other business divisions to assist with managing the Funds tax risk profile.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with the broader business e.g. Legal, Investments, Finance, People and Culture to advise on tax related matters
- Assist the STM, to respond to ATO reviews (Combined Assurance Reviews, Risk Reviews) and engage with the ATO on ad-hoc administration.
- Preparation and management of the process for completion of the yearly income tax returns and tax effect accounting, including managing inputs for complex international investments.
- Assist with improving automation of processes across compliance obligations.
- Research and document technical positions to support these calculations, and input into our position papers adopted by the Fund.
- Supporting the STM and the business to advise on tax aspects of strategic projects.
- Manage the process for completion of FBT returns, BAS’s, and Payroll Tax submissions.
- Oversee taxation requirements for subsidiary businesses.
- Liaising with service providers including our custodian, administrators, advisors and payroll providers to ensure accuracy of reporting.
- Assist the STM with implementing tax advice received from external advisors.
- Experience from Superannuation industry would be highly regarded.
- Ideally experience from a Financial Services taxation role, or a Chartered accounting firm with exposure to Financial Services client portfolio.
- Minimum 5 years experience.
- CA/CPA or equivalent and/or Masters of Tax qualified or equivalent
- Strong understanding and practical experience within Australian tax laws and obligations
- Experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
