Senior Risk Advisor

Job description

The Opportunity

You will join a newly established and evolving operational risk team, supporting a broad risk agenda that includes:
  • Operational risk frameworks and controls
  • Enterprise risk and risk maturity uplift
  • Business continuity planning
  • Corporate insurance
  • Embedding risk into major projects and initiatives
While not formally regulated, the organisation is intentionally aligning its frameworks to APRA-style best practice, making this an ideal opportunity for candidates from insurance, banking, or financial services backgrounds.

The Roles

Two senior contract roles are available, with slightly different focus areas. Candidates may be suited to one or both.

1. Framework Uplift & Project Delivery Focus This role is ideal for someone who can take ownership of complex risk initiatives and drive them end-to-end.

You will:
  • Design, uplift, and implement operational risk frameworks and tools
  • Lead risk-related project deliverables from concept through to business adoption
  • Embed risk into projects by identifying and addressing risk early
  • Support initiatives such as Key Risk Indicator (KRI) uplift aligned to risk appetite
  • Work closely with senior leaders to ensure frameworks are practical and embedded
2. BAU, Business Continuity & Corporate Insurance Focus This role combines strong BAU ownership with meaningful uplift work.

You will:
  • Lead the annual corporate insurance renewal process
  • Coordinate and review business inputs and insurer submissions
  • Prepare information for executive-level decision-making
  • Uplift and operationalise business continuity frameworks
  • Develop training and practical tools to support business adoption
  • Provide risk and project advice across the organisation
What We’re Looking For:

A hands-on senior risk professional who can operate with autonomy and see work through to completion.

Key attributes include:
  • Experience in operational risk, enterprise risk, or risk frameworks
  • Strong exposure to APRA-style risk standards or regulated environments
  • Proven ability to operationalise frameworks, not just design them
  • Project delivery mindset with strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders and executive stakeholders
  • High attention to detail (particularly for BAU and insurance activities)
Contract Details:
  • Initial 6-month contract (extension or longer-term potential)
  • Immediate start preferred (notice periods considered for the right candidate)
  • Hybrid working model
  • Competitive daily rates (aligned to senior risk contract market)
