About the Role

As Senior Payroll Consultant, you’ll act as the payroll subject matter expert, responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely processing of monthly and fortnightly payrolls. Working closely with HR, Finance, and operational teams, you’ll ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and drive payroll efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and process end-to-end monthly (~100 staff) and fortnightly (~300 staff) payroll runs
  • Supervise and mentor a Payroll Consultant
  • Maintain accuracy of time and attendance data, leave, and entitlements
  • Interpret Awards and Enterprise Agreements
  • Manage payroll tax, superannuation, and associated obligations
  • Reconcile and transmit EFT files and ensure timely payments
  • Support HR and Finance with reporting, audits, and payroll analysis
  • Maintain and enhance payroll policies and procedures
  • Act as a payroll SME for process improvement and system projects
  • Provide training and support to team members and key stakeholders
About You

You’re an experienced payroll professional who combines strong technical expertise with leadership and collaboration skills. You take pride in accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

You will bring:
  • 5+ years’ full-function payroll experience in a medium to large organisation
  • Sound knowledge of payroll tax, superannuation, and employment legislation
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other payroll professionals
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Confidence liaising with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience with EmpowerHR, Timefiler, or Fusion5 systems (advantageous)
  • Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Business, or HR (or equivalent experience)
