Residential Home Placement Officer

Job description

Troocoo is proudly partnering with a purpose-driven organisation to recruit several Residential Home Placement Officers to join a busy and compassionate team supporting older Queenslanders through the transition into aged care.

This is a complex, people-centred role where you will guide residents and families through financial conversations, eligibility checks, applications and placement processes across multiple sites. It is fast paced, highly varied and ideal for someone who enjoys balancing detailed admin with meaningful customer support.

What your day will look like;

You will act as a first point of contact for families, residents, hospitals and social workers, managing enquiries from the onsite phone team and email channels.

You will interview prospective residents and gather detailed financial and personal information, use government systems to obtain required data and advise on fees and room costs, guide families through concessional and non-concessional requirements and funding options, and support people through an emotional and often stressful journey, including delivering honest and at times difficult advice.

You will manage competing priorities in a high-volume team working across three sites, complete applications, offers and admission documentation through a detailed process that can take three days to five weeks, and work closely with your teammates to support an engaged and collaborative environment.

To enjoy this role you will need to bring with you;

A strong admin capability with confidence using multiple systems, along with the ability to manage a high workload, constant prioritising and frequent task switching. You will feel comfortable asking financial and personal questions with empathy and care, and you will have experience in customer-focused roles where conversations can become complex or emotive. Your approach will be calm and resilient when families move off script or situations become challenging, and you will have a genuine interest in supporting older people while helping to make a difficult journey easier. You must be able to work office based full time with Tuesday and Wednesday required onsite, and you will be confident using a conversation script while knowing when to adapt. A learning mindset is essential as the systems are older and the environment requires strong attention to detail.

This is a 3-month temporary opportunity initially starting on the 7th of January (you will need to interview prior to Christmas) with the potential to extend for the right person. The role is based in Brisbane's Northern Suburbs. If you thrive in meaningful work, have a strong sense of compassion and empathy and enjoy a detailed and complex administration role that supports families at a critical moment in their live,s we would love to hear from you.
Apply today and the team will reach out for a confidential conversation.
