Job description

My client is a Queensland Government division tasked with the maintenance and construction of Government owned properties.  They currently have a need for 2 Project Managers to join them on an initial 3 month contract, with the potential to extend.

Responsibilities
 
Project management processes:
  • Prepares project management plan, evaluates various procurement/delivery methodology, risk and value management, and demonstrates understanding of life-cycle considerations.
Procurement and management of consultants:
  • Can prepare building construction projects brief, terms of references for consultants and consultancy tender documents.
  • Ensures design is fit-for-purpose / meets design intent, value-for-money, statutory compliances and meets project brief requirements.
Procurement and management of contractors:
  • Can prepare tender documents for Design & Construct (non-traditional) and fully documented (traditional) contracts.
  • Familiar with Australian Standard for tendering, and non-price criteria in tender evaluations.
  • Can perform role of a Principal’s Representative and a Contract Superintendent
  • Familiar with contract law concepts, building construction industry practices, roles and responsibilities of various team members and stakeholders in a building construction project.
  • Can oversee project commissioning, handover documentation, defect liability period and understands building maintenance requirements.
Professional expertise:
  • Have client-side building construction/upgrade projects management experience in comparable organizations.
  • Have building construction related education
Communication and business acumen:
  • Effective in communications and stakeholder management.
  • Can preparing project reports for management and clients.
  • Achieves project targets in terms of time, costs, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Can work within organization’s policies, processes and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Can prepare fee proposals, achieves project profitability.
  • Keeps project management data and systems updated.
  • Works within approvals/delegations and escalates by exception. Keeps auditable trail of project records.
  • Pursues opportunity to achieve efficiencies in business systems and processes.
Team leader:
  • Ability to operate independently and lead project teams comprising of internal and external resources.
  • Manages competing interests of project team members and stakeholders.
  • Can give ad-hoc advice and assistance to project managers reporting to this position.
