Your New Position
As a PO3 Legal Officer, you will apply your legal expertise to assess complex cases and make informed recommendations on the eligibility of individuals. Your work will be instrumental in protecting vulnerable young people and maintaining the integrity of Queensland’s safety framework.

Your New Position
As a PO3 Legal Officer, you will apply your legal expertise to assess complex cases and make informed recommendations on the eligibility of individuals. Your work will be instrumental in protecting vulnerable young people and maintaining the integrity of Queensland’s safety framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal assessments of applications and changes in police or disciplinary information.
- Apply relevant legislation to assess risk and make sound recommendations.
- Analyse complex file information and determine the sufficiency of evidence to support decisions.
- Draft well-reasoned legal reports and correspondence.
- Provide advice to internal stakeholders on legislative, procedural, or administrative matters.
- Undertake legal research and maintain in-depth knowledge of the relevant legislation.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
To be considered for this role you would have skills & experience in the following to be successful:
- Must hold a completed Bachelor of Laws or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in criminal law, family law, child protection, or other relevant legal areas is required.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, particularly in applying legislation to complex situations.
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to prepare technical legal documents and reports.
- Resilience and emotional intelligence to manage potentially distressing or sensitive content.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment.
- This role involves working with material related to criminal offences and other sensitive topics. You may be exposed to vicarious trauma. Support mechanisms are in place to protect staff wellbeing, and all applicants are encouraged to consider this carefully before applying.
