Job description

We are currently seeking applications from procurement specialists to join multiple state government projects in various capacities and levels.
These roles offer the opportunity to contribute to essential public sector outcomes while working on diverse and meaningful procurement activities that benefit Queenslanders.

About the Roles
Depending on level and placement, you may be responsible for:
  • End-to-end procurement and contract management activities
  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies and plans
  • Preparing tender documentation, evaluations, and supporting contract negotiations
  • Providing commercial and procurement advice to internal stakeholders
  • Managing supplier relationships and monitoring contract performance
  • Ensuring compliance with the Queensland Procurement Policy (QPP) and relevant legislation
  • Supporting value-for-money, risk-based, and ethical procurement practices
Key responsibilities
To be successful you must have the following demonstrated capability, aligned to the relevant level which includes:
  • Contributing to and influencing the department’s tactical procurement function through strategic analysis and planning for medium to high value and risk projects.
  • Managing the provision of expert procurement advice across a broad range of activities, including procurement strategies, contract development and management, offer evaluation, and engagement of consultants and contractors.
  • Exercising appropriate Procurement Authorisation and Certification in accordance with departmental delegations and policy requirements.
  • Contributing to the preparation of whole-of-Government procurement reporting and data requirements.
  • Initiating and project managing reviews of procurement systems and processes, identifying improvement strategies to support efficiency, effectiveness, and future sustainability.
  • Delivering significant savings and benefits through whole-of-Government, consortium, and agency-specific procurement arrangements, and providing expert advice at a senior level.
  • Influencing the capability and profile of procurement within the department and contributing to procurement knowledge and expertise among purchasing staff
Skills and Experience
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and a solutions focused mindset
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Proven experience in a procurement specialist, Senior Procurement or Category role
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills to drive supplier performance
Relevant qualifications in procurement, business, commerce, or a related discipline are desirable but not mandatory.
Competitive government contract rates ranging from $70 - $100 + super an hour.
