Manager Special Projects

Job description

We are seeking a Manager, Special Projects to support the delivery of priority initiatives under the Regional Collaborative Governance Model, a new way of working together across government to strengthen outcomes for regional communities.

In this role, you will support the Director, Regional Collaboration to implement and deliver special projects that enhance collaboration across Queensland Government agencies and different levels of governance.
The Regional Collaborative Governance Model focuses on three key goals:
  • Understanding regional challenges
  • Promoting collaboration between agencies
  • Building regional leadership
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure regional priorities are effectively planned, governed, and delivered through place-based solutions that add real value to communities across Queensland.
Key responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and advice on best-practice stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and partnership-building to support priority projects.
  • Deliver high-quality reports, briefings, and project documentation aligned with Queensland Government standards.
  • Design, implement, and maintain project management frameworks, tools, and methodologies to ensure consistent and effective delivery.
  • Identify and escalate barriers to cross-agency collaboration to relevant governance and decision-making bodies.
  • Prepare project plans and briefing materials informed by research, analysis, and regional priorities.
  • Provide strategic advice on regional challenges and opportunities to improve outcomes for Queensland communities.
  • Collaborate with Queensland Government agencies, Regional Leadership Networks, and the Department to support agreed outcomes.
  • Coordinate priority special projects across all regions of Queensland, including:
    • Scheduling and attending meetings (virtually and in person)
    • Coordinating meeting notes, actions, reporting, and data management
    • Ensuring privacy and confidentiality requirements are met
    • Supporting knowledge-sharing and learnings between regions
    • Developing regional communication materials as required
  • Develop consistent reporting templates and support performance reporting against key indicators.
  • Maintain and promote continuous learning across agencies involved in the Model.
  • Undertake other duties as required.

  • Research, analysis, and policy development
  • Working in complex, collaborative environments, particularly in regional Queensland
  • Understanding and responding appropriately to complex social issues
