IT Delivery Manager

The Department is undergoing major programs and projects to modernise including uplift to Azure SQL Server.
 
Working as the IT Delivery Manager for the Department takes pure passion for technology, speed, a constant desire to learn, and above all, the ability to lead. This role is critical in managing a broad spectrum of BAU and interfacing with high-profile programs for the modernisation of training sector and future efficiency of the Department.
 
This highly valuable role sees the position holder lead a team and plan to deliver Operational practices and systems and ensure frequent delivery of support and software to agreed and optimal standards. This includes individual tickets or full work packages for platform engineering, software development, implementing service offerings, platform maintenance/administration and issue resolution.
 
Essential skills and objectives:
This position will aim to deliver the following: 
  • Drive the analysis, identification, prioritisation and implementation of improvements and efficiencies to maximum value from current systems infrastructure and applications, legacy and modern, including the potential for automation of processes, re-platforming and rewrites.
  • Support the plan, execute, release and close phases of large operational work packages
  • Support the initiation phase of new enhancements and initiatives
  • Manage and facilitate meetings, preferably Agile ceremonies, to ensure that teams are improving performance, service, and product quality.
  • Develop and maintain support strategies, operational standard procedures, and continuous integration and continuous delivery strategies, applying best practice methodologies and industry recognised systems, processes and standards to meet defined business needs
  • Manage the integration and testing of components, systems and their interfaces to create operational services, ensuring that all platform services are working efficiently in on-premise and cloud environments This includes, data landing systems, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) systems and databases
  • Manage resources and issue resolution to ensure that the systems integration function works effectively and corrective actions and standard operating procedures to solve operational issues are applied
  • Manage and drive services and stakeholder relationships to ensure the effective translation of requirements into specifications and technical designs of systems to meet defined business needs
  • Provide direct support to internal and external teams during various operations, such as deployment and general production operational issues to produce efficient and effective services
  • Develop a deep understanding of ICT projects to gain insights into the scope of service delivery
  • Analyse third-party as well as internal processes, and create strategies for service delivery optimisation
  • Actively participate in Cloud Working Group, Architecture Review Board, Change Advisory Board
Desirable requirements
  • Software knowledge - familiarity with technology and computer software, particularly development languages and D365, Power Platforms
  • Technical experience – 10+ years of technical experience, including databases, as well as prior experience managing technical teams
  • Infrastructure development - strong knowledge of the principles and processes of infrastructure development
  • Leadership - skills to encourage teamwork and motivate employees, engage stakeholders and vendors
  • Problem-solving skills - need strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot effectively
  • Administrative effectiveness – need to embrace administration tasks
