About the role
Reporting to the HR Manager, this position plays a key role in delivering high-quality HR and ER/IR support across the business. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where meeting deadlines, managing competing priorities, and maintaining exceptional attention to detail are essential.
As the HR Team Leader, you will:
- Lead a small, yet high performing HR team
- Review and interpret tender and prequalification documentation to ensure compliance with client IR requirements and organisational strategy
- Support project mobilisation and demobilisation activities, setting clear expectations with leaders and stakeholders
- Lead enterprise agreement negotiations and provide expert advice on complex ER/IR matters
- Manage union right-of-entry processes and deliver training to leaders.
- Coach and guide leaders on employment relations issues, investigations, grievances and dispute resolution
- Mentor junior HR team members and contribute to capability uplift across the business
- Monitor changes in ER/IR legislation, industry developments and best practice, ensuring timely advice and compliance
- Support the execution of HR and IR strategic initiatives
- Assist with remuneration reviews, salary benchmarking and workforce reporting
- Represent the organisation in external claims or tribunal matters when required
- Identify emerging ER/IR risks and opportunities and support policy and procedure development
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with internal stakeholders, unions and external partners
- Facilitate consultation processes for significant workplace change
- Conduct site visits and contribute to reporting, forecasting and general HR operations
You’ll be a proactive and organised HR professional who enjoys working under pressure and delivering high-quality outcomes.
You bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, IR, Law or a related discipline is highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and engage at all levels
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
- Skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution and sound decision-making
- Demonstrated experience coaching leaders through complex ER/IR matters
- A proven track record of building effective internal and external relationships
- Experience in the civil or mining sectors (highly desirable)
