Head of Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre Operations
Brisbane based with regular travel
Troocoo are excited to partner with RSL Queensland to appoint a senior operational leader to oversee and evolve the Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre network across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
This is a critical leadership role focused on building capability, embedding strong operating models and leading teams through a period of growth and change. The footprint spans Brisbane, Ipswich, Townsville and Darwin, with geographically dispersed teams delivering frontline services to veterans and their families.
This role balances strategic intent with hands on operational leadership and visible presence in centres.
About the role
This role sits at the intersection of strategy and service delivery. You will take organisational direction and translate it into operational models, systems and ways of working that support staff and improve outcomes for veterans and their families.
You will be responsible for strengthening the operational capability of the VFWC network, embedding clear guidelines, processes and performance expectations while maintaining a strong people focus. A significant part of the role involves supporting developing teams, particularly in regional and remote locations, and providing steady leadership through transformation.

• Significant experience leading multi-site teams in community, health or human services environments
• Strong operational design and service delivery capability
• Demonstrated experience leading teams through change and transformation
• A data informed mindset with the ability to translate insights into practical action
• Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and navigating complex service partnerships
• Empathy, resilience and a steady leadership style
• A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for veterans and their families
Defence experience is valued but not essential. What matters most is your understanding of service delivery, people leadership and impact.

The role includes
- Leading the operational functioning of multiple centres across health, wellbeing and community service contexts
• Designing and embedding service delivery and operating models aligned to organisational strategy
• Using data to understand centre activity, performance and impact and clearly articulate what the data is telling the organisation
• Producing centre performance reporting and driving continuous improvement initiatives
• Leading change management programs across centres and teams
• Building strong senior level stakeholder relationships while supporting Centre Managers in day to day partnership delivery
• Overseeing stakeholder onboarding and ensuring consistent use of centre processes and policies
• Supporting teams with facilities, WHS and operational coordination
• Developing medium term plans to evolve the centre network and grow services sustainably
• Managing centre operations within budget and supporting financial accountability
• Leading and developing geographically dispersed teams across multiple locations
