We are proud to be partnering with Eagers Automotive, as we go to market seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Payroll to lead payroll operations across a large, complex and decentralised workforce spanning both Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the HR Leadership Team, this role blends operational excellence with strategic oversight.

About the role
As Head of Payroll, you will hold enterprise-wide accountability for payroll service delivery, compliance, systems optimisation and continuous improvement.
You will:
  • Lead end-to-end payroll operations across a large, multi-site workforce across Australia & New Zealand
  • Ensure full compliance with Industrial Instruments, agreements, superannuation and legislative requirements
  • Provide expert advisory support to Senior Leaders on payroll governance and risk
  • Act as business owner for payroll systems, vendors and data integrity across ANZ
  • Strengthen processes, controls, reconciliations and reporting frameworks and documentation
  • Partner closely with HR, and Finance to align payroll strategy with business priorities
  • Build payroll capability through workforce planning, succession, training and role clarity
  • Identify automation and transformation opportunities that enhance efficiency and employee experience
  • Prepare executive-level reporting and provide insights to senior stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and compliance excellence
  • Lead related ad-hoc projects as and when required
This is a role for a leader who enjoys operating at scale, navigating complexity and delivering both precision and progress.

About you
You are an experienced Payroll leader who understands the technical, commercial and human realities of payroll in a large organisation.
You will bring:
  • Significant payroll experience within complex, fast-paced environments
  • Proven leadership experience managing sizeable payroll teams
  • Deep knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Awards and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and confidence quickly with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong systems capability, including SAP Payroll (essential), with exposure to SuccessFactors and Kronos UKG Pro highly regarded
  • Experience leading system implementations, optimisation or transformation initiatives
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate complexity into clear guidance
  • A collaborative leadership style with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders
  • High levels of integrity, accuracy and accountability
