About the role:

This strategic leadership role is responsible for overseeing the Home Assessing function, ensuring the model and controls are maintained effectively and managing the Assessing value chain within the broader Home claims process. The role involves leading a large team of Assessors through State Assessing Managers, driving high performance, fostering workforce engagement, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  
The position holds ownership of the assessing systems, process design, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency. It also requires close collaboration with the Home Senior Leadership Team (SLT), including key stakeholders like the GM Home Claims Management, GM Commercial, and Head of Performance, Controls & Risk, ensuring alignment and seamless execution of the Home Claims function across all measures.
  
In addition, this role focuses on designing and operating effective controls and teamwork across the end-to-end claims cycle, delivering a well-structured, efficient system for the benefit of both customers and the business. The role also challenges existing business norms to drive superior performance and enhance the capability of the team.
  
Specifically, key accountabilities include:
  • Provide strong leadership to the entire Home Assessing team, focusing on strategic alignment, technical delivery, process optimisation, and people care.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the senior management team, ensuring they are capable of delivering high performance.
  • Directly coach and develop State Managers, guiding them to be high-performing leaders of their teams.
  • Foster a culture of high performance and integrity, role modelling leadership to enhance employee engagement and leadership capability.
  • Identify and leverage internal opportunities to create competitive advantage for the business.
  • Collaborate with the Home Commercial team to support and grow commercial relationships as the network expands.
  • Help embed re-engineering programs that deliver cost, customer, and employee benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with business risk policies while aligning performance with cost control and maintaining the company’s brand reputation.
The Person:
  
To be considered for the position, you will be an exceptional Insurance leader with extensive experience and a proven record of achievements at a senior level across the insurance or financial services sectors. Having led Assessing functions, you must demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Your meticulous attention to detail is complemented by excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration within diverse teams.
  
An understanding of home insurance and claims processes will be desirable for this key senior appointment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong grasp of relevant legislation, industry best practices, and operational intricacies. This knowledge will enable effective decision-making, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and facilitate the implementation of efficient claims management strategies. Additionally, significant knowledge of the delivery of services and products through traditional Customer Service channels, as well as Digital and Omni Channel strategies, will be crucial. Proficiency in developing and executing operating plans to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) will also be a key success factor.
