About the role:
The Financial Controller holds responsibility for the end-to-end financial stewardship of GMR, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and transparency across all financial operations. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), this role provides critical oversight and insight to support strategic decision-making and long-term organisational sustainability.
Core accountabilities include leading the finance function across accounting, regulatory compliance, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal controls, whilst driving continuous improvement to strengthen efficiency and effectiveness.
Beyond technical expertise, the Financial Controller plays a pivotal leadership role, guiding and developing the finance team, fostering collaboration, and contributing to a culture of accountability and high performance.
Acting as both a strategic partner and financial custodian, this role ensures GMR’s financial health is safeguarded while enabling the organisation to pursue its growth ambitions with confidence.
The Person:
We’re seeking a seasoned finance professional with a Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and CA/CPA qualification. You’ll bring at least five years’ senior finance experience, with skills in financial reporting, analysis, and providing strategic guidance that drives confident decision-making.
Equally critical is your ability to engage and influence. With exceptional stakeholder management skills, you will forge strong, trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation. Hands-on and adaptable, you are confident operating both strategically and operationally, and bring professionalism and credibility to your interactions with the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
As an experienced leader, you know how to motivate and develop teams. With excellent communication and interpersonal strengths, you can operate seamlessly across an organisation, building trust and driving results.
Technically, you bring strong MYOB expertise and advanced Excel skills, backed by exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
While not essential, experience in the not-for-profit sector and/or an understanding of the health or research sectors will be highly regarded.
