About the role:
As part of the ongoing growth of our client, they have created a new role in the finance team for a Financial Accountant who will focus on and assist the Finance Director in the day-to-day operations. This is a fantastic role to both learn and grow by gaining both film industry experience and also being a critical part of a small team. - Accounts Receivable
- Preparation of invoices for company production/development as required.
- Weekly review of unpaid invoices and chase client to ensure timely receipts.
- Chase invoices for productions/ development to ensure invoices are sent out in a timely manner.
- Accounts payable
- Entering invoices for the company and any productions as required
- Ensuring coding is accurate.
- Ensure approval and delegations authority is adhered to
- Payroll
- Preparation of payroll for Company personnel, writer rooms and any other productions where the company decides it can be completed inhouse.
- Ensure all leave is correctly recorded.
- Ensure all payroll balance sheet accounts, workers comp, payroll tax reconciliations are completed monthly, and any reconciliation items are corrected in the following month.
- Bank Reconciliation
- Preparation of bank and credit card reconciliations are completed on a daily basis.
- Productions
- Assist with any requirements that the production needs, such as but not exhaustive;
- Setting up new bank accounts,
- Registering and submitting payroll tax,
- Registering and submitting worker’s compensation
- Worker’s compensation claims management
- Statutory
- Assist with Preparation of payroll tax submission, Superannuation, BAS. Ensure all are prepared and submitted meeting all statutory guidelines and deadlines.
- Month end reporting/ Other
- Assistance with month end preparation including accruals and prepayment journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Updating weekly cashflow template
- Residuals
- Uploading payments for residuals.
- Send remittances
- Assist with any requirements that the production needs, such as but not exhaustive;
The role is going to suit 2 types of candidates, either
1) someone at the early part of their career looking to gain a foothold in the media industry and then learn from a fantastic and talented group of individuals. Or;
2) a returning parent who is perhaps looking to take a step back into an exciting role which doesn't carry the same weight of bureaucracy or pressure as larger corporate entities.
At a minimum the candidate must be able to satisfy the following:
- CPA/CA Qualified with 3+ years experience
- Proficient in the use of Excel
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, possessing a high attention to detail
- High level of accountability with the ability to prioritise and manage reporting deadlines
- Experience in accounting software, Xero
- “Can do” attitude and willingness to get involved in the detail, not just oversight.
