About the role:

The Director of Marketing and Communications is a key member of the ELT, responsible for overseeing a small team to ensure that GMR's marketing and communication efforts are of exceptional quality and aligned with Board-mandated strategies. This position plays a crucial role in shaping and executing the organisation's marketing vision, ensuring that all initiatives are consistent with GMR's goals and objectives. The Director's leadership will be instrumental in driving the overall success of the marketing and communications team.
  
Collaboration with the GMR Board and executives is a fundamental aspect of this role. The Director will work closely with these stakeholders to develop and implement strategic marketing plans that effectively drive the organisational strategy. This includes crafting and executing marketing campaigns that resonate with target audiences and achieve KPIs. The role also involves optimising these campaigns across multiple channels to ensure maximum impact and efficiency.
  
In addition to campaign management, the Director will handle media and oversee special projects as directed by the CEO. This requires a proactive approach to identifying potential issues and developing strategic responses to maintain GMR's reputation and brand integrity. By providing leadership and direction, the Director will ensure that all marketing and communication activities are well-coordinated, strategically aligned, and effectively executed.
  
  
The Person:
  
The ideal candidate has a tertiary qualification in marketing, communication, business, or a related discipline, along with at least five years of experience in a similar role. Experience in not-for-profit, research, or health-related industries, while not essential, would be advantageous. The candidate should have a proven track record of leading a team of specialists, as well as experience in successfully developing and executing marketing and communications strategies.
  
The candidate must possess the ability to set, drive, and monitor KPIs in digital marketing to increase reach, improve brand awareness, and grow a loyal following. They should be adept at leading, conceptualising, developing, and executing marketing strategies and campaigns through various channels, whilst ensuring consistency in brand messaging and visual identity across all communications.
  
Proficiency in data analysis, along with a strong understanding of digital marketing and social media landscapes and experience with relevant tools and strategies, is essential. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in designing and executing media and public relations strategies.
