Data Migration Lead

Purpose of the position

The Data Management Lead will be joining an Agile and waterfall working environment working closely with the other program resources including Product Managers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Test Analysts and Architects, and Existing system architects and analysts. 

Key responsibilities
 
Working within the Technical Project and the overall program, key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Lead the data management stream of work, including a team of data specialists
  • Prepare key data migration products, including the Data Migration Strategy / Approach, Plan, Specifications and data archiving considerations
  • Work with business, data and technical subject matter experts to identify, define, collate, document and communicate data migration requirements
  • Work across multiple functional areas to understand data usage and implications for data migration
  • Undertake data profiling on in scope datasets, including identifying, analysis and remediation of data quality issues
  • Create source to target mappings, understand & document complex transformation rules and identify data granularity and map entities to target application
  • Translate and interpret system requirements that are in the form of Epics, Features and User Stories
  • Design, implement and execute data migration audit, reconciliation and exception reporting.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders within the department as required for the achievement of data migration outcomes
  • Knowledge transfer and mentoring of other project staff members
  • Regular progress, issues and risks reporting
  • Active participation in the technical stream of work such as contributing to future state roadmaps and blueprints by providing expert advice on data and integration technologies and approaches.
Essential requirements
  • A flexible, pragmatic, team oriented, client focused approach to the data management activities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data migration methodologies and practice
  • Demonstrated experience in data migration activities within a complex project environment including a high level of understanding or experience of data migration staging, ETL processes and tools (Storage Explorer / AzCopy / Azure PowerShell / Azure CLI / Microsoft Data Migration Assistant) and Microsoft Dynamics PaaS environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing data models and associated design artefacts that represent and communicate data requirements for supporting large scale and complex data migrations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the conduct of multiple concurrent activities, engaging with stakeholders and external implementation partners.
  • Ability to lead and determine suitable data migration performance measures to provide quality assurances to data migration processes (e.g. data cleansing, data quality, reconciliations, etc).
  • Ability to contribute to strategies, plans and implementations of the rollout of enterprise integration solutions to departmental users
  • Strong understanding of information technologies, security, and privacy best practices
  • High level of verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work well within a small multi-disciplinary team, vendors and third party suppliers.
  • Enthusiastic problem solver with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A team player – able to function without close supervision and mentor personnel constructively
Desirable requirements
  • Knowledge of Informatica / Profisee / CluedIn
  • experience with Azure DevOps;
  • experience with Microsoft Dynamics;
  • experience with .NET software;
  • experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Demonstrated experience working with, and integrating to Microsoft products including .NET/SQL Server environments
 
Deliverables
  • Data Management and Migration Plans.
  • Data Migration Mapping and transformation specification, Data Migration Test Cases, Data Migration Report
  • Data migration execution including auditing and reconciliation
  • Contribution to solution roadmaps, solution design documents, integration architecture documents, system management plans, technical build guides, change requests, development and deployment artefacts and other project documentation, as required.
