The Opportunity

Our client is currently seeking experienced Community Housing Officers to join their Emergency Housing team based in Hervey Bay. These are full-time roles offering the chance to contribute to meaningful change for individuals facing housing instability. Successful candidates will play a key role in delivering holistic, person-centred support to clients in crisis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive initial assessments and develop individualised case plans
  • Monitor and adjust case plans in line with client progress and evolving needs
  • Provide immediate crisis support and connect clients with relevant external services
  • Collaborate with real estate professionals to support clients’ housing outcomes
  • Manage a portfolio of ten residential properties, including inspections and tenancy transitions
  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as Police, Child Safety, Corrections, Youth Justice, Public Guardian, and educational institutions
  • Deliver coordinated, wraparound services to support client wellbeing and long-term stability
  • Promote independent living skills including budgeting, daily routines, and shared responsibilities
  • Use sound judgment to determine when to escalate matters to specialist services
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualifications in Mental Health, Social Work, or Community Services (highly regarded)
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness
  • Strong understanding of the complex needs 
  • Proven experience in case management, particularly with high-needs or vulnerable populations
