Job description

Troocoo are proud to partner with a highly respected not-for-profit organisation that plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable communities across Queensland.

This organisation is delivering a significant housing and community infrastructure program aimed at increasing access to safe and affordable housing across the state. Through strong partnerships with government and the community, they are expanding their impact and delivering projects that directly support people experiencing disadvantage.

As part of this work, a newly created position has been established for a Community Engagement and Events Manager to lead strategic community engagement and stakeholder activity across a growing portfolio of property and construction projects.

The Role
Working closely with senior leaders across property, construction, fundraising and communications, you will develop and deliver a proactive and structured approach to community engagement, stakeholder management and strategic events.

You will play a key role in ensuring local communities, government stakeholders and internal teams are effectively engaged throughout the lifecycle of major projects, from early consultation through to milestone events such as sod-turnings, project announcements and official openings.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working across complex stakeholder environments and can bring structure, clarity and strategy to community engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Engagement
  • Develop and manage a rolling 12-month community engagement and events plan aligned to project milestones and organisational priorities.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on engagement strategies for complex or high-profile initiatives.
  • Establish frameworks, templates and processes to ensure engagement activities are consistent and scalable.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Design and implement tailored engagement strategies for housing developments and community initiatives across Queensland.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government representatives, local community stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Act as a key point of contact for community enquiries relating to property and construction initiatives.
  • Support engagement with local communities where projects are being delivered, ensuring transparent and proactive communication.
Events and Key Milestones
  • Plan and deliver community and stakeholder events including project announcements, sod-turnings, consultations and opening events.
  • Support government and VIP engagement linked to major projects and fundraising initiatives.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure messaging is consistent and aligned across communications channels.
Communications and Risk Management
  • Translate complex project information into clear and accessible communication materials including briefings, FAQs and stakeholder updates.
  • Identify and proactively manage potential community concerns or reputational risks through effective engagement.
  • Collaborate with communications, media and fundraising teams to ensure consistent messaging.
About You
You are a highly organised and strategic communicator who enjoys building relationships and bringing people together around important community initiatives.

You will bring experience delivering community engagement and stakeholder events, ideally within environments where infrastructure, construction or community development projects intersect with government and local communities.

You will likely demonstrate:
  • Experience in community engagement, stakeholder management or event delivery.
  • Strong ability to plan and execute community or stakeholder events.
  • Confidence engaging with government, community leaders and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear communication materials.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities.
Experience in infrastructure, property development, construction, local government or community development environments will be highly regarded.

Why This Role
This is an opportunity to step into a newly created role where you can shape the approach to community engagement across a growing program of projects that will have meaningful impact across Queensland communities.

You will join a collaborative and purpose-driven team working on initiatives that directly improve housing access and community outcomes. The position also offers the opportunity to build strong relationships across government, community and internal stakeholders while contributing to projects that support vulnerable communities across the state.
