We’re seeking a seasoned Communications Manager to cover a six-month maternity leave. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, you’ll oversee the ongoing delivery of established communication and engagement strategies. You’ll lead a small, confident team, provide expert guidance, and ensure the continued success of high-quality communications across a variety of projects, programs, and operations.

You will:
- Deliver and oversee ongoing communication and engagement strategies, ensuring continuity in project delivery and maintaining momentum across campaigns and initiatives.
- Lead a team of two direct reports, providing clear direction, guidance, and hands-on support.
- Collaborate closely across South Bank corporate teams and internal client relationships to achieve high-impact outcomes.
- Manage internal and CEO communications, keeping employees informed, aligned, and motivated.
- Support media relations, including proactive and reactive communications, monitoring, and reporting.
- Provide expert advice on communication best practices, issues management, and reputation oversight, preparing evidence-based materials and working within organisational and government frameworks.
- At least 8-10 years’ experience, including at least 2-3 years as a communications leader, ideally in a generalist role spanning marcomms and corporate communications, as well as stakeholder engagement.
- Experience managing and collaborating across teams, fostering confidence, and empowering direct reports to take ownership of their projects while still comfortable rolling up your sleeves yourself.
- Strong knowledge of internal communications, media relations, and corporate communications frameworks.
- Starting by mid-April to ensure a smooth handover and continuity in the team.
- Operating with a hands-on approach where you’ll lead by example and actively support your team.
- Collaborating across teams and stakeholders to influence outcomes and drive results.
- Viewing projects through a reputation and issues management lens to maintain alignment and quality.
