Commercial Merchandise Manager

Job description

Our Client

Blue Bungalow has always stood for more than fashion. From the very beginning, their focus has been on creating experiences that make women feel comfortable, confident, and connected in their everyday lives. They're not here to dictate style or chase trends; they’re here to simplify choices, spark joy, and add a touch of creativity and care to each moment they share with their customers.

What sets Blue Bungalow apart is its spirit: entrepreneurial, fast-moving, and unapologetically creative. They listen closely, move with agility, and bring fresh ideas to life quickly — always with purpose and thought. Their customers describe the brand as personal, uplifting, and distinctly different; they come to them not just for clothes, but for the reassurance and enjoyment that comes with feeling understood.

As they continue to grow, their ambition is clear: to build a lifestyle brand that belongs in her everyday moments. They are committed to seamless, considered experiences — online, in-store, and everywhere in between — that leave women feeling more confident and supported than when they arrived.

The Position - Where Commercial Agility Meets Creative Energy

This isn’t your typical merchandise role — it’s a seat at the table of one of Australia’s fastest-moving lifestyle brands. We’re looking for someone who thrives in the thrill of momentum: curious enough to challenge convention, confident enough to make quick calls, and commercially sharp enough to turn insight into impact. If you love the idea of building something fresh, agile, and full of creative spark — this is your stage.

As part of Blue Bungalow’s next growth chapter, the Commercial Merchandise Manager will bridge insight and execution, turning data into decisions and opportunities into outcomes. You’ll be the connector between analytics, buying, and brand strategy, empowering the team with the speed, clarity, and foresight needed to stay ahead in a fast-paced, ever-evolving retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

This is a role for those who love connecting the dots between data and instinct, creativity and commerciality, ideas and execution. You’ll be hands-on, switched-on, and always moving.
  • Turn insight into action. Translate customer, commercial, and market data into bold, practical range and product strategies that keep Blue Bungalow ahead of the curve.
  • Own the buy. Lead purchasing and product flow end-to-end — from initial discussion to final delivery — ensuring every piece reflects quality, timing, and commercial edge.
  • Move fast. React to performance signals and market trends in real time, adapting allocations and orders to capture emerging opportunities before anyone else.
  • Build powerful partnerships. Nurture supplier relationships built on trust, collaboration, and mutual ambition — ensuring our network scales with our growth.
  • Keep the numbers sharp. Collaborate with the Merchandise Analyst to forecast, allocate budgets, and optimise spend across categories — always balancing risk with reward.
  • Stay on top of the game. Monitor inventory health and rate of sale, adjusting course with precision to drive profitable growth.
  • Plan and launch with impact. Partner across teams to sequence and launch collections that feel fresh, relevant, and deeply connected to our customers.

Skills & Experience

You’re not the usual Commercial Merchandise Manager — and this isn’t the usual brand. You think fast, act faster, and love turning complexity into clarity. You’re hands-on, commercially sharp, and fuelled by curiosity.
  • Experience that counts: 5+ years in merchandise, demand planning, or commercial operations — ideally in a fast-paced, multi-channel environment.
  • Analytical, but instinctive: You know your numbers inside out — forecasting, budgets, rate of sale — but you also trust your gut when you see an opportunity.
  • Strategic operator: You’ve taken data and turned it into growth stories — from range planning and buying through to post-launch optimisation.
  • Supplier powerhouse: You know how to negotiate, nurture, and elevate supplier partnerships so they deliver more than just product — they deliver momentum.
  • Collaboration comes naturally: You connect easily across creative, marketing, and operations teams — keeping communication fast, clear, and energised.
  • Agile mindset: You adapt quickly, think on your feet, and know how to thrive in ambiguity.
  • Tech-savvy: Advanced Excel and data capability, with an appetite for using tools and insights to fuel smarter, faster decisions.
  • Detail-driven: You care about the small things that make a big difference — because precision and pace can absolutely coexist.

Please note that we are only accepting applications from candidates currently based in Australia and holding full working rights.
