Chief Financial Officer

Job description

About iSelect and Compare the Market

Our aggregation group brings together two of Australia’s most recognised comparison platforms — iSelect and Compare the Market, helping millions of Australians make smarter decisions across insurance, energy and personal finance.

Both brands have built strong market positions over decades, underpinned by trusted customer relationships, high-volume digital and contact centre channels, and deep partnerships across multiple product verticals.

As the business continues to evolve, there is a clear focus on driving stronger commercial performance, improving financial visibility, and leveraging data, systems and automation to unlock growth and efficiency.

This role represents a critical appointment at a pivotal stage, embedding a high-performing, commercially focused finance function at the centre of decision-making across a complex, multi-brand environment.

About the role

The Chief Financial Officer will operate as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team with a dual reporting relationship to the CEO and Group Chief Financial Officer, Asia Pac. The role will also sit within the broader Auto & General Group CFO portfolio, ensuring alignment with group financial strategy and governance.

This is a hands-on, commercially embedded CFO role, responsible for shaping strategy, improving financial performance, and driving enterprise-wide transformation across the aggregation business.

The role will move finance beyond traditional reporting, establishing a true business partnering model that translates data into actionable insight, improves forecasting accuracy, and directly influences commercial and operational outcomes.

A key part of the mandate will be optimising systems and processes following the implementation of TechOne, improving data integrity, reporting capability, and leveraging automation and AI opportunities to enhance performance and efficiency.

The CFO will also play a critical leadership role across financial governance, performance frameworks, revenue assurance, and strategic program delivery, including oversight of the Project Management Office and procurement capability.

This role requires a leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels, capable of shaping long-term direction while also driving immediate, tangible impact across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the CEO and Executive Team to shape and execute enterprise strategy
  • Lead commercial finance and business partnering across multiple product verticals
  • Improve forecasting accuracy, planning processes, and performance visibility
  • Establish clear reporting frameworks, dashboards and actionable insights
  • Drive revenue assurance, margin optimisation and commercial discipline
  • Lead financial governance, controls and Board-level reporting
  • Optimise ERP (TechOne) and drive finance transformation, automation and efficiency
  • Oversee PMO and strategic program delivery to ensure disciplined execution
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team aligned to business priorities
The Person

To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced and commercially minded CFO or senior finance executive, with a proven track record operating in fast-paced, complex and data-rich environments.
You will bring strong commercial finance and FP&A capability, with the ability to translate financial data into clear, practical actions that drive performance across the business.

You will be comfortable operating at pace, navigating ambiguity, and balancing strategic priorities with hands-on execution.

Equally important will be your ability to build credibility and influence at executive and board level, while partnering effectively with non-finance leaders across diverse business units.

Key attributes and experience include:
  • Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience in complex, multi-dimensional organisations
  • Strong commercial finance, FP&A and business partnering capability
  • Demonstrated success improving forecasting accuracy and financial performance
  • Experience leading finance transformation, systems optimisation or ERP environments
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving and performance-driven environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at Executive and Board level
  • High levels of resilience, adaptability and delivery focus
This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact, enterprise-level CFO role, with the ability to shape financial strategy, influence commercial outcomes, and drive meaningful transformation across a well-known, multi-brand Australian business.
