ArcGIS Mapping Analyst - Planning (A05)

Troocoo is proud to be partnering with the Queensland Government to support it's efforts in dealing with Natural Disasters that impact the community. Should such an event occur, the Community Recovery Branch (CRB) will set-up the State Recovery Event Management Team (SREMT). This team is scalable depending on the size of the event. As such, a number of roles have been identified and will require suitably qualified candidates to commence at short notice.
To prepare, Troocoo is seeking Expressions of Interest for the ArcGIS Mapping Analyst (AO5) – Planning position.
About the Team
The PIR team ensures Community Recovery stakeholders can make timely, evidence-based decisions that improve the human and social recovery and resilience of disaster-affected communities. To do this, the team undertakes proactive planning, intelligence gathering, impact assessment, GIS mapping, data analysis, and systems improvement. The team prepares a range of reports to keep stakeholders informed about the scale and progress of Community Recovery activities.

Core Requirements
- Ability to work a 5 day roster around a 7 day week and for extended periods of time - willing to work extended hours or one of two daily shifts
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast paced, challenging environment - these roles are extremely time sensitive – time management and prioritising of workload is paramount
- Maintain confidentiality
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel (competence with Excel formulae and pivot tables highly desired) and SharePoint.
- Ability to learn and use IT systems and online tools very quickly
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task in a very dynamic environment
- Ability to grasp tasks quickly and work independently
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changing work priorities
- Identifying, gathering and analysing geospatial datasets relevant for disaster management
- Facilitate GIS analytics projects and data sharing within other departments and agencies
- Use internal GIS applications to inform operational planning
- Ensure ongoing high level situational awareness of the disaster event is maintained and displayed geospatially
- Excellent GIS skills, including using GIS as an analytical tool
- Experience in producing maps – including adding layers and notes to a map
- Experience with Web applications (experience with ESRI preferred)
