Troocoo is partnering with a leading federal mental health service to recruit multiple APS 5 Community and Peer Workers. These roles provide an opportunity to support current and former ADF members and their families through recovery-oriented, trauma-informed mental health support.
We are offering initially as 12 month contract with possible extension, we are recruiting across the following locations:

As a Community and Peer Worker, you will:
- Provide personalised, goal-focused peer support to veterans, current ADF members, and their families.
- Collaboratively develop Individualised Action Plans addressing client goals and needs (e.g., housing, counselling, community connection).
- Use your lived experience to build rapport, empower clients, and model recovery-oriented practice.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to case reviews and co-facilitating group programs.
- Promote services within the veteran community and build networks with support organisations to reduce barriers to care.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and administrative documentation.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, supervision, and peer networks.
Essential:
- Lived experience of military service or military family life, and a mental health journey (including as a relative/carer of an ex-ADF member).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High integrity, emotional intelligence, and professionalism.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or equivalent), or willingness to obtain.
- Experience delivering peer support services.
- Experience in the mental health sector or mentoring/coaching individuals.
- Working with Children and/or Vulnerable People Check prior to commencement.
- Australian citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-engagement screening check.
- Access to external professional supervision aligned to APS standards.
