Our client, a leading government department, is seeking a Senior Grants Officer (AO5) to support the implementation of a new program. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to play a key role in grant administration, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
  
About the Role
  
As Senior Grants Officer (AO5), you will lead a team in delivering key program outcomes, ensuring smooth administration and operational efficiency in grant funding processes. Working closely with the Program Leader, you will be responsible for assessing applications, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring best practices in grant management.
  
The ideal candidate will have experience with SmartyGrants or a similar grant management platform, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a team to ensure the efficient administration of grants and program delivery.
  • Assess grant applications, manage application progression, and ensure key milestones are achieved.
  • Provide high-quality customer service via phone and email, responding to queries from applicants, contractors, and the public.
  • Handle first-level escalations, resolve complaints professionally, and escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Monitor team performance KPIs, providing coaching and mentoring where required.
  • Identify risks and drive continuous improvement in grant management processes.
  • Prepare accurate reports and data to support Ministerial and departmental requests.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to foster productive relationships.
  • Oversee finance and invoicing activities related to the program.
  
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • 1-2 years experience in a similar role within the public sector is highly desirable 
  • experience using SmartyGrants or similar grant platforms will be highly regarded.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
  • A proactive and energetic approach to challenges, with excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team to achieve performance goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
