We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced AO4 Senior Accounts Payable Officer to join a high-performing government Accounts Payable team on a 6-month contract basis, with a strong potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate transactional-based financial services to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee day-to-day AP operations including:
- Checking and posting documents into the system
- Managing coding and workflow of incoming AP invoices
- Overseeing independent vendor verifications with service providers
- Support and guide a small team of AP processors, including onboarding and training of new staff.
- Act as a key point of contact for operational issues and escalations related to accounts payable.
- Respond to queries from various stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Review and develop workflows, procedures, and internal controls to drive efficiency.
- Assist in financial issue resolution and identification of process improvements.
- Ensure AP activities align with relevant legislation, professional standards, and organisational policies.
- Must have previous experience in a similar Senior AP role, ideally within a government or large-scale organisation
- Strong working knowledge of financial systems and AP processes (experience with Connect is highly regarded)
- Confident in supervising small teams and supporting team performance
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing competing priorities
- Passionate about continuous improvement and providing high-quality service
- Competitive hourly rate of $59.16 + super
- High likelihood of contract extension
- Brisbane CBD location – close to public transport
