Role Duties:
The Paralegal Support Officer (AO3) will be responsible for:
- Providing high‑quality paralegal support to ensure legal processes run smoothly in a fast-paced government context.
- Managing document and case preparation including filing, service, briefs, and indexes.
- Conducting searches and supporting discovery: inspections, document copies, correspondence, and list preparation under supervision.
- Supporting trial and legal preparations: scheduling, research, correspondence, and court documentation.
- Maintaining legal systems and administrative tools to ensure accurate time‑keeping, billing, and case tracking.
- Liaising with stakeholders—including Counsel, experts, witnesses, clients—and working across teams as needed.
- Consistently achieving billing targets (average of four billable hours per day) and adhering to the Department's client service standards and quality measures.
About You:
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge providing support and advice on technology‑related subjects, such as legal‑tech tools, document systems, e‑discovery or case management software.
- A strong process‑driven mindset, with a readiness to learn, adapt and thrive in a fast‑paced government‑legal environment.
- Solid organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to multitask across complex legal administration tasks.
- Able to communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—with internal and external contacts including Counsel, expert witnesses and legal staff.
