A04 Communications Officer

Job description

Troocoo are seeking a Communications Officer to join an organisation on the Sunshine Coast to work within the Communications Delivery Team.

In this role, you will actively contribute to the successful delivery of regional road infrastructure projects by providing high-quality, timely and strategic communication support. You will work across projects in the design, construction and maintenance phases of critical infrastructure upgrade for Queenslanders by helping to build strong relationships with communities, stakeholders and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities As a Communications Officer, you will:
  • Provide strategic communication advice and support to regional staff, particularly in relation to stakeholder and community engagement for road infrastructure projects.
  • Develop, implement and monitor communication strategies and activities using appropriate tools and channels.
  • Research, gather information and prepare high-quality written content, including:
    • Project newsletters
    • Construction notifications
    • Webpage and online engagement content
    • Reports and other project-related materials
  • Coordinate and prepare media statements, responses to media enquiries, speech notes and communication materials for the Minister’s Office and senior management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support collaboration and effective communication.
  • Ensure communication activities comply with governance frameworks, policies, legislation, standards and procedures.
  • Provide ad hoc communication support as required.
Reporting This position reports to the Delivery Team Leader.
Desirable Requirements while not mandatory, the following skills and experience will be highly regarded:
  • A current Class ‘C’ Driver Licence
  • A qualification in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing
    • International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Engagement certification is desirable
  • Knowledge of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) framework and its application to infrastructure projects
    • Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP) qualification is desirable
  • Experience in communications or community engagement roles within major infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sector
