Senior Health and Safety Advisor

Job description

Our local government client has a new role for a Senior Health & Safety Advisor. Reporting to the WHS Manager you will join the wider HR and WHS teams. Initially on a contract until 30th June with the possibility for a 12-month extension, the purpose of this role is to act as a trusted advisor to work with the business leaders and the wider WHS and HR teams to build capability in health and safety.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Provide high level advice across a broad range of health, safety and workers compensation related matters including incident investigations, safety inspections, risk assessment, interpretation of safety management system elements, return to work programs, safety committees, health monitoring and the application of control measures to reduce risk
  • Conduct investigations into safety incidents and potential breaches 
  • Conduct audits to measure compliance with our client's safety management system and self-insurance licensing arrangements
  • Revise system documentation
About You:
  • Diploma qualified in occupational health and safety or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience with high level health and safety investigations
  • Highly developed knowledge of the WHS and workers compensation legislation
  • Ability to prepare reports for senior management and excellent ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the business
