The role:

As the Data Scientist you will have a strong background in data science, analytics or data engineering.   
The main focus of the Data Scientist role is to provide advanced statistical analysis, machine learning and AI to our client's main business units and partners across the energy and resource sector.
 
Responsibilities will include by not be limited to:
  • Lead / execute analytical approaches, including developing / training / optimizing machine learning models, other forms of analytical modelling
  • Lead in house analytics projects and upskill people within the Data Science and Decision support team where appropriate.
  • Processing, cleansing, manipulating, and verifying the integrity of data used for analyses
The successful candidate:

- Masters degree in highly quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, computer science, machine learning) or equivalent experience
- Experience leveraging statistical programming languages (SAS, R and/or Python for analyses)
- Experience with data visualization tools, preferably Power BI
- Minimum of 8 years' experience with advanced statistical methods generally, and particularly in the areas of predictive modelling and machine learning

The position will initially be a 6 month contract with a daily rate of c.$900-1000 a day + super. The intention is that the successful candidate will be moved to a permanent hire in the new financial year.
