We are seeking a skilled Senior Governance officer to join a globally minded and locally engaged corporate services team within a large organisation whose offices span across 12 overseas markets.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities for this role:
As a Senior Governance Officer, you’ll develop innovative plans for interesting projects as you grow your skills every day. And you’ll do it with people who you’re proud to work with and want you to thrive. To be successful in this role, you will:
  •    Provide professional advice and recommendations on the application of governance, risk and compliance, corporate secretariat coordination, relevant reporting, methodologies and tools that align with best practice.
  • Manage the Policy management framework including monitoring policies for review, maintaining delegation schedules and alignment with global compliance obligations.
  • Facilitate the development of risk registers including assessments on appropriate systems and effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislative and governance requirements across both the strategic and operational risks, including the Queensland Protective Security Framework
  • Manage the day-to day work outputs associated with the business units including essential governance, risk and compliance functions, business continuity matters, planning, evaluation and reporting associated with Board, and First Nations Advisory Committee reporting requirements.
    • Support all operational reporting requirements for the agency’s integrated governance, risk and compliance model to ensure it meets its accountability, operational and key legislative imperatives including Right to Information, and Information Privacy.
    • Ensure risk management framework is maintained to support the agency’s risk appetite and best practice, coordinate risk profile, provide strategic and operational risk management advice to the Executive Leadership Team, senior leaders, and other employees.
    • Analyse risk reporting for consideration, deliver ongoing risk management training and awareness and strive for continuous improvement opportunities in a maturing risk culture.
    • Research, develop, implement and promote responsive disaster management strategies across the organisation to ensure that it is prepared for disruptive events including the:
      • o Disaster management cycle timeline
      • o Documentation of all Business Continuity Plans (BCP’s)
      • o Annual business impact assessment of all BCP’s
      • o Coordinate the testing exercises as scheduled to ensure executive and operational awareness of BCP requirements when activated, including observations and recommendations for continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Assist management in the development of fraud and corruption prevention strategies by ensuring the application and currency of the Fraud and Corruption Prevention Plan; development and delivery of training, mitigation and management of fraud and corruption risks and reporting trends through quarterly integrity reporting to the AFRMC.
    • Establish effective working relations with key stakeholders within the department and the wider government community.
    • Lead the development of a risk conscious culture appropriate for a globally dispersed government owned organisations by understanding, supporting and promoting the department's risk management toolset.
    • Develop and maintain relevant policies and procedures relevant to risk management and integrity practices in a Queensland Government Statutory Body agency.
    • Contribute and coordinate in the development of comprehensive reports and executive correspondence for the Board, and Executive Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate for this role:
  • Has knowledge and experience coordinating a system of governance, risk and compliance activities in a complex environment within a government context including confidence with IT systems associated with the management of corporate governance modules.
  • Thinks strategically and considers long terms goals whilst also understanding the current environment, drivers and ability to align and meet deadlines for deliverables.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills, positive approach and strong negotiation skills in an international culturally diverse environment.
  • Has the capacity to plan, work autonomously, deliver quality work on time reflecting well developed analytical, research, engagement and problem-solving skills.
  • Has a high level of flexibility and resilience and the ability to operate in a high-pressure environment where there are often competing or changed priorities.
