Troocoo are proud to be partnering with the Department of Justice and Attorney General on the recruitment of a permanent AO7 Principal Employee Relations Advisor.  In this newly created role, you will be responsible for the provision of authoritative advice, leadership and support to senior management and clients of the Department on workforce relations issues.
  
What your new role looks like:
  • Provision of expert advice and consultancy services to executives, senior managers and clients matters relating to Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, and Public Sector Policy.
  • Assist where required in sensitive industrial and workforce issues and develop, negotiate, and implement appropriate strategies for timely resolution in consultation with relevant parties
  • Apply knowledge of contemporary human resource practices to develop well informed, responsive, and innovative strategic solutions to matters relating to Employee & Industrial Relations
  • Provide expert training, coaching and support to managers and HR specialists across DJAG in relation to Industrial workforce relations issues.
  • Represent the department at high level negotiations relating to industrial and workforce relations issues, including advocacy at the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
  • Draft complex briefing material, correspondence, QIRC submissions and reports on issues related to employee and industrial relations within the department
  • Lead and oversee project work in the development, implementation and reporting of initiatives, programs, policies, and targeted plans which relate Industrial & Employee Relations matters.
Your skills and experiences for the role:
  • Proven ability to deliver strategic HR advice in a diverse and evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to write reports, briefs, strategies and plans.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, influence change and deliver outcomes including when faced with obstacles.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the team and stakeholders.
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work well autonomously and as part of the team

This is a key role in the employee relations function and as part of the employee relations team you will be the escalation point for all employee relations matters for internal and external client groups. Duties of the role are centred around working with human resources colleagues and senior leaders to ensure business areas comply with workplace laws, adopt sound industrially strategies and making defensible decisions.
  
AO7 salary banding: $127,842 - $136,895 p.a.
Plus leave loading and 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
