Are you a skilled payroll professional ready to step into a strategic leadership role? We’re seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll operations and contribute to broader people analytics and remuneration frameworks that support organisational growth and performance.

About the Role Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you’ll lead a small, high-performing payroll team to deliver accurate and timely payroll services while playing a key role in building people reporting and structured reward frameworks. Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Leadership & Operations
  • Manage daily payroll operations, ensuring compliance with relevant awards, EBAs, and legislation.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the payroll team’s development and performance.
  • Ensure accurate processing of salary payments, superannuation, tax, salary packaging, and deductions.
  • Handle general payroll queries and provide expert advice across the organisation.
  • Liaise with external agencies such as the ATO and Services Australia.
Payroll Reporting
  • Deliver accurate end-of-month payroll reporting for finance and executive teams.
  • Conduct payroll audits and integrity reviews.
  • Prepare government compliance reports including WGEA and WorkCover.
  • Support business decision-making with timely payroll and workforce data.
Remuneration & People Analytics
  • Support the implementation of a structured remuneration and reward framework.
  • Conduct job evaluations, salary benchmarking, and grading reviews.
  • Develop and maintain people analytics dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Partner with P&C and business leaders to deliver meaningful workforce insights.
About You

You’re a hands-on payroll leader with strong attention to detail and a passion for data, systems, and continuous improvement. You bring:
  • 5+ years' experience in payroll leadership or remuneration roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Modern Awards, EBAs, payroll legislation, and compliance.
  • Experience with payroll systems (Aurion highly regarded) and advanced Excel.
  • Understanding of salary packaging and Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) payroll.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant qualifications, plus a current Blue Card, Police Check, and open driver’s license.
Experience with New Zealand payroll is desirable but not essential.
