Our client recently created sister a company of to specialise in Employment Law and Contract/Commercial legal work. Inherent in our client’s genetic code, is a deep understanding of the construction electrotechnology and trades industry. There vision and mission is to become the preferred choice of small and large businesses in the construction and business sector for legal guidance and business support. Their mission is to be looked upon as a trusted business partner who can be by the client’s side to ensure they navigate legal and business responsibilities with confidence and certainty.
The role and responsibilities:
  • Help businesses to prevent, navigate and resolve complex legal issues
  • Advise on and draft a range of documents (the below being a sample):
    • Commercial matters (such as contracts, PPSR issues, standard terms of trade, sub-contracting, supplier contracts, assignment/novation deeds, tender documentation, confidentiality agreements, plant hire agreements, supply agreements, distribution agreements, service agreements, development/construction contracts, power of attorney, agency / nomination arrangements, debt recovery)
    • Manage contractual disputes
    • Property transactions and documentation (such as sale/purchase agreements leases, land sale contracts, and agreements to lease)
    • Intellectual property documents (i.e. assignment of IP and licensing arrangements)
    • Banking and finance documents (such as loan agreements and security documentation)
    • Business structuring questions and documentation (companies, partnerships, joint ventures, trusts)
    • Basic tax (i.e. stamp duty, CGT, GST, landholder duty)
  • Maintain and enhance the suite of precedents across the business
Undertake research and develop position papers, if required proactively assist with the delivery of marketing and business development plans. This will include writing advocacy pieces, articles, newsletter on legal and commercial issues of relevance to our clients, as well as attending and presenting at networking events
  • Contribute to the identification of innovative services and methods to assist in achieving growth of this fee for service business, efficiencies and continual process improvement
The successful candidate:
  • The successful candidate will possess a current legal practising certificate. In addition, experience in construction, trades industry and exposure to security of payments will be highly regarded. Candidates who are interested in working 3 or 4 days a week with a view to full time work in the future are encouraged to apply. The role would potentially suit a parent returning to work following maternity / paternity leave.
  • What’s on offer:
  • Salary will depend on experience but will be in the range of $90-110,000 + super. Flexibility and an outcome driver environment and central to our client’s working practices.
