Troocoo are proud to be partnering with a critical QLD Government client on the recruitment of an AO5 Communications Advisor to join a high performing team based in Buderim. This is an exciting opportunity to secure an initial three-year contract with strong potential for extension, offering $69.21 to $75.09 per hour plus super.
The Role
As the AO5 Communications Advisor, you will support the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects across the Sunshine Coast Region, providing strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and media support that helps shape projects with lasting community impact.
Working closely with project managers, technical specialists, contractors and government stakeholders, you will develop communication strategies, lead community engagement initiatives and manage complex stakeholder and media issues across a diverse portfolio of high-profile infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic communications advice across major transport infrastructure projects.
- Develop and implement communication, stakeholder engagement and community consultation strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, project partners, contractors, community groups and key stakeholders.
- Manage media enquiries, issues management and executive correspondence.
- Plan and coordinate communication campaigns, stakeholder events and community engagement activities.
- Provide advice on communication risks and stakeholder management strategies.
- Ensure communication activities comply with relevant governance frameworks, policies and legislative requirements.
To be successful you will ideally demonstrate the following:
- Experience in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement or community relations.
- Previous experience supporting major infrastructure, transport or civil engineering projects.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse groups.
- Experience managing community engagement activities, media issues and executive communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare high-quality communication materials.
- The ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Degree qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related discipline.
- IAP2 (International Association for Public Participation) Engagement certification.
- Experience working within Queensland Government or other public sector infrastructure environments.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal history check prior to commencement.
